I began my career in the mental health field in 2001. Over the course of 15 years I developed my counseling skills by providing direct counseling services to consumers (individuals and families) in the following modalities of care: harm reduction, medication assisted treatment, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial care, and residential settings. I am highly skilled at managing complex cases that include multiple variables such as trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, stress, HIV/AIDS, criminal justice involvement, intimate partner violence, & medical conditions. These are commonly described as co-occurring conditions. These experiences along with my education and training prepared me to practice independently as a mental health provider in private practice. In addition to practicing, I conduct professional development trainings for licensed mental health professionals at local and national conferences on the topics of mental health awareness, mental health treatment models, reentry counseling, transitioning from incarceration to home, reducing recidivism, and recovery maintenance. I am an advisory board member for the CACREP Accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master of Arts Program at my alma mater Fairleigh Dickinson University-Madison. I am actively in service to my profession as a member of the American Counseling Association and serve in the leadership position of professional development coordinator for the International Association of Addiction and Offender Counselors.
